I will be bringing Elsie Treacle, the well-upholstered music hall turn to the Mind Your Head Art Cabaret hosted by Hot Snakes Night Club at TACO gallery.

As part of Hot Snakes Night Club (22 August - 13 September) Mind Your Head Art Cabaret returns to Thamesmead with Out of the Rubble, a surreal evening of humour, weirdness and pastiche with live art collaborations, music and site-specific occurrences that consider the perpetual demolition/rebuild of the area, as well as a wider sense of rebirth and recovery in difficult times. Mind Your Head compere’s Spruce Monkscyth (Calum F Kerr) & M’Lie-dee (Caroline Gregory) present a range of performers including Eva Lis and Robert Sookhan as Flying Carpets, Thamesmead’s luscious, lascivious and all-around lovely lady, Letti O’Burn accompanied by Sunnyboy Tyson, performance artists Maryam Sandjari Hashemi, Sarah Doyle, duo Sparkes Thompson, and musical social commentators, the Receipt, All Free!

Mind Your Head Art Cabaret is staged within The Hotsnakes Night Club, an immersive installation and performance space by artist Chloe Langlois. Co-curated by TACO! and Dinosaur Kilby, the club hosts a diverse programme of cabaret, live artist performance, workshops, and experimental music from invited artists and guests. Drawing on aesthetics of ‘social’ performance traditions such as clowning, folk rituals, stand-up comedy, vaudeville, and the occult, Langlois has transformed TACO! Into an artist nightclub complete with an artist-themed cocktail bar.

I am showing work in the forthcoming Compound Notions exhibition. My work for the show draws from the endless scroll of online imagery, exploring collage as image consumption and a way of looking.

COMPOUND NOTIONS ART EXHIBITION

21–24 May 2026

Compound Notions is a four-day exhibition showcasing the work of 64 contemporary artists, each responding to the theme of collage. The show examines and expands the meaning of collage through both traditional practices and experimental approaches.

Curated by Jo McCormick, Frog Morris, and Sarah Sparkes—directors of Collaborative Arts CIC, the exhibition is presented at Art Hub Studios CIC in New Cross, South East London.

The works on display range from pieces rooted in classic collage techniques, such as découpage, cut-and-paste, assemblage, and the use of found materials, to more boundary-pushing explorations incorporating unconventional media, installation, sound, and performance. The curators have adopted an imaginative approach to the exhibition layout, transforming the space into a large-scale, immersive collage in its own right.
